Khalistani Outfit Announces Siege On Indian Consulate in Vancouver (X)
Khalistani Outfit Threat: The US-based Khalistani outfits Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has announced a fresh threat against the Indian diplomats, stating a ‘siege’ of the Indian Consulate in Vancouver. Notably, this threat has surfaced days after India and Canada initiative to normalise diplomatic relations between the country by announcing appointments of high commissioners in respective country's capitals.
As per the reports, organisation has further plans to storm the embassy on Thursday and has appealed to Indo-Canadian citizens to postpone their routine visits to the embassy on that day. Reportedly, they have also released a poster, targeting India's new High Commissioner Dinesh Patnaik. The organization claimed that the Indian embassy is spying and monitoring Khalistani activists in Canada.
"Two years ago, on September 18, 2023, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told Parliament that an investigation was underway into the role of Indian agents in the murder of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar," SFJ said in its statement.
Further SFJ alleged that Indian embassies continue to spy and monitor Khalistan Referendum activists. They claim that the threat is so serious that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) had to provide "witness protection" to Inderjit Singh Gosal, who took over the leadership of Khalistan Referendum after Nijjar's death.
A recent internal Canadian government report acknowledged that Khalistani militant organizations, such as the Babbar Khalsa International and the International Sikh Youth Federation, receive financial support from individuals and networks based in Canada. Both organizations are designated as terrorist organizations under the Canadian Criminal Code. The report also stated that these extremist groups now operate as small factions, not directly affiliated with any larger organization, but actively supporting Khalistan.
However, no official statement related to it has been made yet from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs or the Indian Embassy in Vancouver side.
